Media Nation is reliably informed that New York Times reporters James Risen and Eric Lichtblau, who broke the NSA spying story last week, are both alumni of the Los Angeles Times. Indeed, Google searches instantly reveal L.A. Times bylines for both. Could that be a factor in James Rainey's L.A. Times story today?

Even if it is a factor, does that change the fact the NYT sat on such an important story?
Huh? It is an interesting little tidbit that helps explain how the L.A. Times got on to this. That's all.
Dan - for us non-insiders, how long ago did Risen and Lichtblau work at the LA Times? Was Risen working in LA when he started the book?
And with Grady Little on the wrong coast, who knows?
